Our Beliefs

1. The Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and is supremely authoritative in all things. The Bible is the story of God’s relationship with humanity and the outworking of His redemptive purposes. It alone shows the way to eternal life through Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21; Matthew 24:35; John 3:16)

2. There is one God, existing eternally in three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. For His own glory He made all that is seen and unseen, ruling sovereignly and lovingly over all things. He alone is to receive worship.(Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:16; Deuteronomy 6:4; Exodus 20:3; 1 Corinthians 8:6; John 14:9-11; John 15:26; Matthew 28:19)

3. Humankind is the pinnacle of God’s creation, made in His image and for relationship with Him. From the beginning of time, however, people have made the choice to turn away from God. Instead, they worship gods of their own choosing. The universal human condition is spiritual death and separation from God for all of eternity. Apart from the mercy of God, all people face His righteous judgment for their sin. (Genesis 1:27; John 10:27-29; Jeremiah 29:13; Genesis 3; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Romans 6:23)

4. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and the full revelation of His nature. In fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan, He became incarnate as a human being in the womb of the Virgin Mary through the power of the Holy Spirit. Both fully human and fully divine, Jesus lived a sinless life on earth. He willingly died a cruel death on the cross of Calvary as God’s perfect sacrifice to forgive the sins of all who trust in Him. After three days God raised Jesus in power from the dead. Jesus ascended to heaven and sits exalted at the right hand of the Father. He will return to earth in glory to judge the living and the dead in the Last Day. (Colossians 1:15; Hebrews 1:3; John 1:14; Matthew 1:18-23; Romans 5:6-11, 8:34; Luke 24; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Corinthians 15:3; Hebrews 10:12-14, 12:2; Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15)

5. To escape judgment and to receive eternal life, a person must enter into a new relationship with God through Jesus. All who turn to Christ by faith and receive His saving work on their behalf are rescued from sin and death. Salvation cannot be earned through human efforts. It is a gracious and free gift of God to everyone who receives His Son. This is a person’s spiritual birth into God’s kingdom, which Jesus calls being born again, or born from above. All who receive Jesus will be saved, but those who reject Him will be eternally condemned. (John 1:12; 3:3; 3:16-18; 3:36; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:4-9; Titus 3:5-7; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10)

6. The Holy Spirit is the Helper sent from the Father and the Son. He works in the process of salvation to bring us to faith and draws us nearer to Jesus. He dwells in all believers, leading, convicting and empowering us to live as followers of Christ. He is given as a seal guaranteeing the future fulfillment of all God’s promises in Christ to believers. He is always at work in the church around the world to bring glory to Jesus and advance His kingdom. (John 14:16-17, 15:26, 16:7-15; 1 Corinthians 12:3; Ephesians 1:12-14)

7. There is one universal Church, the Body of Christ, with Jesus Christ as the head of the Church. The Church includes all of His true followers in all times and places. Jesus is building His church around the world today from every people and language. (John 10:14-16; 1 Corinthians 12:11-26; Ephesians 4:4-6; 5:23; 1 Peter 1:3-5; 2:9-10; Revelation 5:9-10; 7:9-12)

8. We believe that all followers of Christ are called to fulfill the Great Commission, taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth and making disciples of Jesus. (Matthew 28:19, 20; Mark 16:15-16; Luke 24:46-48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8)

9. Jesus will come again to the earth in glory. He will judge every person, both living and dead. Jesus will reign forever in the New Jerusalem. His Kingdom will have no end. (Matthew 26:63-64; Acts 1:11; Titus 2:14; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Zechariah 14:4; 2 Timothy 4:1; Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14, 27; Revelation 19-22)
